WATCH: War Pigs Played on Cello
By: Maura O'Malley
Meet Aaron Gage, cellist extraordinaire. While the cello isn’t typically something you’d expect to find in relation to rock, it’s not something you’d often hear in the same sentence as Black Sabbath either. But we’re gonna combine everything in the video below.
Equipped with his cello and loop station, watch Gage play “War Pigs” at the Fishhead Cantina.
Even though it starts out feeling pretty classical, it definitely gets more Sabbath as the song progresses. I’ve personally never heard a cello sound so … electric? So I think it’s pretty rad that he turned something so classical into something so, well, edgy.
And while the vibrato in Gage’s voice doesn’t hold a candle to the amount of edge in the Prince of Darkness’ voice, it’s a cover. And covers are all about interpretation, right?
What do you think of this interesting take on “War Pigs”?
