Larry Wilson

Larry Wilson tries to corral the John Boy & Billy Big Show from 6am to 10am in the mornings, then gently rocks you to sleep at night from 6pm to midnight.  Did we say gently?  Yeah... right!  And check out Larry's sarcastic view on the world and his desires to "thin the herd" on his blog!

Tis The Season for Taking
Ahhh... the holiday season.  Time for friends and family to exchange gifts.

Not only do the merchants and shipping companies benefit from this season of giving...some gain as they turn in into th season of taking.

Check out the video below.  Package theft happens throughout the year, but due to the surge in shipping, its rampant during November and December.

Consider a different path

You can ask the folks I work with, my sister, my wife.....on my best day, I’m less than a “handful of sunshine” .
I admit my mood runs anywhere between aggressive to sarcastic. I’ve been told it’s a defensive mechanism and since my therapist has a bunch of letters after her name, she is probably right.

How you end up is an ongoing process. When I was a kid I was always happy, telling jokes, etc. Over time, things tended to get darker and lets say “less positive.” Life itself has a way of grinding people down.

Along those same lines, it seems the holidays are the perfect time for depression.  Suicide rates go up, as do calls to hotlines, and even to 911 for domestic violence.  Maybe its seeing how happy others are...when you aren't.  Maybe its the financial pressure to "give till it hurts".  Whatever the reason it can seem like you are losing the battle...that the odds are against you,,,,,that THIS is the best it will ever be.

Maybe, just maybe, you can change your perspective and maybe that same change can have an impact on those around you.

Now I’m not saying I’ve suddenly started watching Dancing with the Stars, or consider Al Sharpton more than a cheap hustler.  I’m just a little more willing to appreciate what I have versus being so quick to tell someone to F off.

Now, about that “life changing” song. It’s about being thankful for what you have.

Saddle Up for the Toys for Tots run 20012 !!

Its that time of the year again when we as riders fill our calendars with toy runs for a variety of causes.

In the upstate of South Carolina, this will be the 10th annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots run and if this year is anything like previous events it will be chilly, huge and a great tine.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

Toys for Tots began in Los Angeles as a charitable effort in 1947 by reservist Major William L. Hendricks. Major Hendricks was inspired by his wife Diane when she unsuccessfully tried to find an organization to donate a doll to a needy child. At her suggestion, he gathered a group of local Marine reservists, including Lieutenant Colonel John Hampton, who coordinated and collected some 5,000 toys for local children that year from collection bins placed outside of Warner Bros. movie theaters. Their efforts were so successful that in 1948 Toys for Tots was launched as a national campaign. Major Hendricks enlisted celebrity support including Walt Disney Studios, which designed and donated the famous red toy train logo.

The Greenville, South Carolina 2012 campaign is managed by Staff Sergeant Gustavo Villasenor. He is assisted by Staff Sergeant Jerod Mann.
Together, these two  Marines collaborate with more than one hundred individual collection location volunteers, fifteen event sponsors, and five nonprofit distributors to generate over 40,000 toys for local children.

The success of the Greenville, South Carolina campaign is a testament to the dedication and charitable spirit of businesses and residents in the Upstate community.

I've been asked to lead Group 2, as we exit Heritage Park and ride to Harley of Greenville.  So...with that in mind i thought "why not add to the ride?"  I'm thinking we should all meet for breakfast (take over a resturant) and then ride as a group to Heritage Park.  Wanna keep up with all the developments and details...click here,
