Guns N' Roses played its first show since December 2010 on Saturday night (October 2nd) in Brazil, as the band closed out the annual Rock In Rio festival. According to Antiquiet, the band did its usual trick of going on around two hours later than scheduled -- hitting the stage around 2:45 a.m. local time -- and was hampered by pouring, heavy rain that led singer Axl Rose to come out in a yellow raincoat, black hat, and sunglasses.
Antiquiet said that opening number "Chinese Democracy" was "kind of a wreck," noting that Rose's voice in particular was "far from being in good shape."
Early in the set, crew members appeared on stage to begin mopping up water from the unending rain.
Antiquiet concluded, "There were certainly moments where Axl and the band went into full nostalgia mode, with great renditions of GNR classics, but most of the time it was just sad to hear a deteriorated sound."
The site also noted that Guns played the Use Your Illusion II track "Estranged" for the first time in 18 years.
A large number of concertgoers at the festival began leaving halfway through the Guns set, according to reports.
